Supercrits bring some of the world’s most influential architects back to architecture school to debate one of their most famous projects with a panel of international critics, students and the public.
"You actually succeeded in slightly intimidating me"
Rem Koolhaas, Supercrit #5
Supercrits are based on an original idea by architect Cedric Price in discussion with Samantha Hardingham and Paul Finch, and were developed as a series of events and publications by Samantha Hardingham and Kester Rattenbury. Since Supercrit #3, events have been run in collaboration with The Architecture Foundation.
Events in the series so far have been:
Supercrit #1: Cedric Price, the Potteries ThinkBelt;
Supercrit #2, Robert Venturi and Denise Scott Brown, Learning From Las Vegas;
Supercrit #3 Richard Rogers, the Pompidou Centre;
Supercrit #4, Bernard Tschumi, Parc de la Villette;
Supercrit #5, Rem Koolhaas, Delirious New York;
Supercrit #6, Leon Krier, Poundbury; and
Supercrit #7, Michael Wilford, the Neue Staatsgalerie, in collaboration with Tate Britain and the Canadian Centre for Architecture.
Supercrits #1-#4 are published as extensively illustrated and annotated books by Kester Rattenbury and Samantha Hardingham. They are published by Routledge in a format devised by EXP and designed by John Morgan Studio. Supercrits #5-#7 are available online in a specially devised annotated video format devised for EXP by Filip Visnjic, Eduard Prats Molner, Clare Hamman and Kester Rattenbury.
